Members of Columbia AAUP, CUMC Stands Up, and Columbia Students for a Democratic Society gathered at the Morningside campus Sundial at 9:45 AM (Friday, November 7) to protest Columbia's capitulation to the Trump administration’s crackdown on free speech and right to protest.
From there, we joined students and faculty from universities across New York in midtown to protest Marc Rowan—the billionaire oligarch behind Trump’s “Compact” for colleges and universities—outside his office at Apollo Global Management (9 West 57th Street) at 11 AM.
Rowan has bragged about inspiring Trump’s executive order that redefined anti-Zionism as antisemitism, forming the basis for today’s Title VI lawsuits targeting campus speech.
It was a nationwide day of protest for higher education and academic freedom—check out our coverage on Instagram!
