Key Action: To gauge the reaction of the administration to potential violations of the IHRA definition.
Long term goal: To eliminate the use of the IHRA as the definition of antisemitism, both on campus and more broadly. We hope that this action will build toward this goal in combination with future teach-ins and other actions.
Short term goal: To test the university’s responses to statements that would likely violate the IHRA’s definition of antisemitism. One purpose of this action is to provide information about the potential consequences of making such statements to set a precedent and guide individual decision-making and future resistance. It is particularly germane to new signs on campus which prohibit “discriminatory statements” on campus, which would seem to include violations of IHRA.
