March 9th marks one year since Columbia allowed ICE to begin kidnapping members of our community and began a series of concessions to the Trump administration in an effort to restore federal science funding. Bending the knee to Trump, Columbia expelled students, allowed the Board of Trustees to override Senate governance, locked the gates, expanded surveillance and investigations of campus and public speech, broadened the definition of antisemitism to include anti-Zionism and criticism of Israel, and squashed protest—especially protest critical of Israel.
Our demands:
Amnesty for all expelled and suspended student protesters (NY judge has found Columbia should vacate the punishments)
Stop handing over international students and community members to DHS: CU keeps letting ICE agents in without a warrant, and there are immigrants who protested at Columbia still in detention a year later
End Columbia’s investment in companies that provide surveillance technologies used by ICE for surveillance
